ATLANTA (April 8, 2009) — At a time when reality TV and social networking Web sites are all the rage and the focus on nutrition continues to fade from many of America’s schools, a new children’s book aims to reach young readers with messages of whole and holy living during one of the most impressionable period of their lives.

Serving up lessons on Godly principles, character and healthy eating, What Kind of Fruit Does God Like? (Holy Child Publications; March 17, 2009; ISBN: 978-0-615-27752-3) introduces young Joey, who often shares and eats his fresh fruit with friends. Now the 5-year-old ponders an interesting question: what kind of fruit proves pleasing to God.

For children up to six years old, What Kind of Fruit Does God Like? by author J. Cecil Anderson features full-color illustrations of a diverse group of characters, along with the following fruits: apples, grapes, peaches, pineapples, bananas, cherries, oranges, pears and strawberries. The 24-page softcover instructs children on the different types of spiritual fruit, as outlined in the Bible in Galatians 5:22-23. They include love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Definitions and explanations of both types of fruit are included in the book’s index.

“This story is about good friends who are sharing great times while learning about Father God,” says Anderson, a painter, graphic designer and writer who lives near Atlanta, Ga. “It is part of a forthcoming series designed to teach God’s word in a fun, exciting way. The bright colors and diverse characters help children see we all play an important role in God’s creation.”

What Kind of Fruit Does God Like? includes Anderson’s unique Red•Dot Best Spot™ numbering method, which serves to help children to learn to count.

The book is available at major bookstores such as Barnes & Noble and on www.amazon.com and www.HolyChildBooks.com.
